German emergency services fighting forest fires: Solidarity in France!
Today, August 15, 2025, we report on the impressive cooperation of emergency services from Germany who helped fight forest fires in France. Two weeks ago, Interior Minister Roman Poseck sent a total of 34 well-trained firefighters from the districts of Offenbach, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Odenwald, Fulda and the city of Kassel. Eight additional forces from the Hessian State Fire Brigade School were also added. This well-composed force arrived in Bordeaux on August 1st and was in action until August 14th.
The emergency services are scheduled to return on August 16th, and they will bring exciting experiences with them. Marius Böse, instructor at the Hessian State Fire Brigade School, reported on a total of eight missions in which the skills and tactics of the German fire brigade were tested. The operations took place in close cooperation with the French forces, supported by a liaison officer from the French fire brigade, which enormously increased efficiency and coordination. This international cooperation was not only professional, but also based on warm sympathy: the civilian population in France was enthusiastic, often with applause and positive gestures.
Special experiences and challenges
A highlight of the operation was the visit to the consulate in Bordeaux, where the German firefighters were recognized as full members of the team. The forest fire clothing worn and the small hose material proved to be extremely practical and have proven themselves in practice. A selection process was previously carried out in which the districts nominated their best forest firefighting recovery teams.
The entire campaign highlighted the importance of solidarity and cooperation in Europe - especially in crisis situations. Minister Poseck emphasized the importance of acting together in disasters and providing humanitarian aid. The excellent cooperation between the German and French forces shows what is possible when we work together internationally.
A look into the future: preparation and planning
Parallel to these exciting events, another important topic is approaching in many households - the start of the new school year. It is therefore crucial to prepare well for the return to school routine. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, we recommend a few tips: First, you should organize your materials and timetables. A structured daily routine that includes at least seven hours of sleep can also make a crucial difference.
By creating achievable goals and a suitable plan to achieve them, the start of the new school year will be a success. Preparation for teachers is also essential: They should start planning their lessons early on to ensure things run smoothly in the new year. Good planning is therefore the key to a productive year for everyone involved.
Whether fighting the flames or preparing for learning adventures, the focus here is on mutual exchange and support - a motto that is still very popular in our society.
