Renate Müller from Guxhagen receives an honor for her volunteer work!
On July 12, 2025, a very special occasion was celebrated in the Guxhagen community center: Renate Müller received the letter of honor from the state of Hesse for her remarkable voluntary commitment. This award was presented by District Administrator Winfried Becker, who in his laudatory speech acknowledged Müller's outstanding services to the community.
Mayor Susanne Schneider, who particularly emphasized Müller's social contribution, Pastor Frithjof Tümmler and other guests also took part in the ceremony. During the event it became clear that Renate Müller had not only been active on the church council over the years, but also acted as an initiator and leader of the “Rainbow Land” play group for young families in the region. The senior lunch event entitled “It tastes better together”, which has been organized since 2010, is also an important part of their commitment.
Voluntary award
Since 1998, the letter of honor from the state of Hesse has been awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves through more than twelve years of voluntary work in various areas, such as local self-government or in social and cultural associations. This is explained by the [Hessian Ministry](https://staatskanzlei.hessen.de/ Unser-Themen/Orden-und-Ehrenzeichen/Ehrenbrief-des-Landes-Hessen), which determines the procedure for awarding such honors. With her tireless commitment to the community, Renate Müller meets all the necessary requirements and is therefore an excellent example of civic engagement.
The appreciation of Müller's achievements is also reflected in the gratitude expressed to her family, who actively supported her. Mayor Schneider emphasized how much Müller's commitment contributes to social coexistence in Guxhagen and thus not only strengthens the sense of community, but also significantly improves the quality of life in the community.
Commitment in Germany
Voluntary work in Germany plays a central role in social coexistence. According to current estimates, almost 30 million people in Germany are active in promoting the common good, according to the Alliance for Nonprofit. These committed citizens make valuable contributions in a wide variety of areas, with around 650 awards for volunteer work. Renate Müller's award is therefore part of a conscious social recognition process that underlines the relevance of voluntary work.
Renate Müller is more than just an award winner; It embodies the heart of a community in which voluntary work and solidarity are at the forefront. Their example should inspire us all to take action in our own neighborhoods and support pet projects or initiatives, because somewhere there is always an opportunity to help and make a positive difference.
