Homberg digitized: New ways of announcing for everyone!

The city of Homberg presents itself as modern and close to the citizens. In an effort to improve communication with citizens, the city administration plans to publish notices both online and in the popular “Ohmtal-Boten”. This is intended to particularly benefit older citizens who rely on the printed form. According to the Lauterbacher Anzeiger, new changes to the Hessian municipal code provide scope for innovative regulations in the area of public announcements.

The advantages of internet publication are clear: it makes it much easier to pass on municipal information. This was also passed by the main and finance committee of the city council, which dealt with the issue in detail. Previously, the city was heavily dependent on the publication dates of the “Ohmtal-Bote”, which often led to difficulties with short-term invitations. The switch to digital announcements is intended to remedy this.

A new era of announcements

For the city council, the decision was clear: a positive recommendation with seven yes votes and only two no votes spoke for itself. The planned changes also include the renaming of the “Amtsblatt” to “Wochenblatt”. This is intended to preserve the character of the newsletter and at the same time adapt it to digital innovations.

The legal requirements stipulate that a “notice announcement” must still be made before publication on the Internet. In future, it will be possible to view statutes and regulations published on the Internet during public consultation hours in the town hall. Printouts will be available for a small refund.

The desire for relevance is also taken into account: the plan is for only selected announcements to continue to be printed in the “Ohmtal-Boten”. The city wants to meet the needs of the older population while at the same time making the number of printed pages efficient. The city councilors were open to concerns from the political opposition, for example Barbara Schlemmer (Ecological List) expressed questions about the definition of “essential”.

Appointments in the “Ohmtal-Boten”

The next publication dates of the “Ohmtal-Boten” have also been set. The current issue will be published on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. The advertisement will be placed on Monday, November 3rd, 2025. Here is an overview of the upcoming publication dates:
