Serious accident on L3079: Two injured after dramatic rollover!
On Monday evening, October 6th, there was a serious traffic accident on the L3079 road between Fulda and Neuhof-Giesel. A 20-year-old man from Neuhof and his 19-year-old passenger were driving their Mazda when they veered off the road to the right for an unknown reason. The vehicle overturned and landed on its roof in a ditch. Both occupants had to be taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, as the East Hesse police headquarters reported in a report. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is still ongoing and all details remain unclear.
The emergency was reported around 11 p.m. and 45 emergency services from the Neuhof and Neuhof-Giesel fire departments were immediately on site. Upon arrival, firefighters ensured the scene was secured and assisted emergency services. Three ambulances and two emergency medical vehicles were also in use. The passenger had to be freed from the vehicle by first responders.
Serious injuries and property damage
Like the reporting from East Hesse News shows that the cause of the accident was a situation that has not yet been clarified. Since the Mazda suffered a total economic loss of around 5,000 euros, this could represent a significant burden for the occupants. The vehicle was badly damaged and is no longer roadworthy.
This tragedy once again highlights how dangerous country roads can be. The German Road Safety Council (DVR) has launched its “Drive Safely!” campaign. already made aware of the dangers. Every year, many accidents occur on country roads, which often have more serious consequences than in urban areas or on motorways. In fact, rural roads contribute to one in four traffic accidents, while over 58 percent of fatal traffic accidents occur there. According to DVR statistics, around 22,000 people are seriously injured every year.
Attentive driving is required
The tragedy of this situation reminds us of the importance of paying particular attention when driving on country roads, which often pass through rural areas and offer scenic views. With good driving skills and a vigilant eye on the road, you can reduce the risk of such serious incidents. The DVR therefore appeals to all drivers: Be responsible and pay attention to the dangers that lurk on the roads.
The terrible events of last Monday remind us all of the importance of road safety. Our community's condolences go out to those injured who are now on the road to recovery.
