The development on the labor market in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district shows encouraging trends. How HNA reported that 3,952 people were unemployed in October, a decrease of 139 people or 3.4 percent compared to September. This shows that the labor market in the Korbach district is dynamic and developing positively.
Overall, the unemployment rate in the district has fallen by 0.2 percentage points and is now 4.4 percent. Interestingly, the rate is at the same level as a year ago. What is particularly pleasing is that the decline in unemployment is visible in all groups of people, with a notable decrease among those under 25 by 137 people (minus 13.4 percent) and among foreigners by 168 people (minus 5.6 percent).

Fortunately, the number of long-term unemployed fell by 15 to 2,383, which corresponds to a decline of 0.6 percent. There were 3,556 unemployed registered at the employment agency, 77 fewer than in September (minus 2.1 percent), while the number at the job centers was reduced by 231 to 4,853 (minus 4.5 percent).
Companies and short-time work
Despite the positive developments, there are also challenges. By October 25th, 10 companies had reported short-time work, which could affect up to 197 employees. Compared to the previous year, there were 13 companies with up to 277 employees affected. The trend shows that companies must continue to react to developments in the labor market.
Overall, the labor market in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district shows that the challenges that 2024 brought with it are slowly being overcome. Demand for labor remains stable and could mean good business for the region, allowing citizens to look to the future with optimism.
