Night operation at Edersee: Missing person successfully rescued!
On the night of Saturday, June 21, 2025, there was a dramatic water rescue operation at the Edersee in Scheid. The emergency services were alerted at 11:50 p.m. after a person went missing in the water. The first teams on site found an unclear situation; the reporting person could not be found. But the volunteer rescuers from the DLRG, supported by the Nieder-Werbe, Waldeck and Sachsenhausen fire departments, did not let this discourage them. 112-Magazin reports that ...
The emergency services immediately scanned the bank areas and the jetties. They used drones with thermal imaging cameras and searchlights while the DLRG boats combed the side of the lake in parallel. The Waldeck fire department was also well prepared: equipped with water rescue suits, they provided a boat.
Successful rescue
A breakthrough finally came when the reporting person was located at a jetty where he had last entered the water. It quickly became clear that a person had been spotted on the opposite side of the lake. Thanks to the quick coordination of the management team from the city of Waldeck, this person was finally handed over to the emergency services unharmed. The entire operation lasted a total of 55 minutes and ended smoothly. However, one important note remains: swimming in the Edersee at night is life-threatening.
