Full closure of K 93 in Viermünden: Last construction work until the end of October!

In Viermünden, there is currently a lot of work being done on the district road K 93, and that has its consequences: from this month onwards, there will be a “driving ban until the end of October”. The full closure is in effect until October 31st while the final construction work is in full swing. Hessen Mobil is involved in the project on behalf of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district and has been renewing the important connection since the end of March. A project costing around 1.09 million euros, which not only improves the quality of the roads, but also ensures drainage.

The Frankenberg sewage works is active as part of this work. During the renovation of the storm overflow on the main street, a new drainage channel will be laid and some water pipes will be relocated. In the third and final construction phase, which extends from the town exit towards Schreufa to Treisbacher Straße, the closure will continue for some time. A diversion has been set up, which at least keeps the residents somewhat mobile.

Investments for the region

But that's not all there is to report in the region. Hesse's municipalities can be happy because in 2025 they will receive a total of 362 million euros from the Hessian Investment Fund, as finanzen.hessen.de reports. This sum has been committed to 151 projects, which primarily concern schools, daycare centers, existing infrastructure and fire protection. Over 181 million euros will flow into the education sector and around 39 million euros into fire service measures. This shows once again: investments in the future are very popular.

A particularly interesting point: The Hessian Investment Fund, which has existed since 1970, enables municipalities to apply for interest-free and reduced-interest loans for infrastructure projects. And this also impacts smaller projects and improvements in rural areas that are often overlooked.

Political developments

A look at the political stage shows exciting developments: On May 22, 2025, the FDP Hallenberg nominated Enrico Eppner as mayoral candidate for the local elections on September 14. Eppner, who has been in office since 2020, has already launched some notable projects. These include digital citizen services, energy-efficient renovations of public buildings and initiatives to promote youth. Anyone who knows the challenges of the coming election can expect an exciting election campaign in which the topics of citizen participation and infrastructure are at the top of the agenda.

The mayor of Frankenberg, Barbara Eckes, is also planning a special campaign on the Friday before Pentecost. She would like to establish a new custom with interested women and change the tradition of the men's procession. If that's not a creative initiative!

This positive development is rounded off by a slight decline in unemployment in the Korbach agency district in May, with a total of 8,642 registered unemployed - 104 fewer than in the previous month. This shows that the economy in the region is slowly picking up speed again, even if the overall figure remains at an increase of 5.1 percent year-on-year.

In summary, it can be said that there is a lot of movement in and around Viermünden. Whether road construction, political decisions or educational investments – the region definitely has some ambitious projects to offer. Citizens can look forward to seeing how the situation develops over the course of the year!
