Hesse is investing in the future: 21 million euros for the fire brigade and fire protection!

A lot is happening in Hesse in the area of fire and disaster protection. How security-network.com reports, the Hessian state government has recognized the need for well-equipped fire departments. Interior Minister Peter Beuth sums it up: “We need modern fire stations and vehicles so that our volunteer firefighters receive the best possible support.” This commitment is reflected not only in words, but also in deeds, as over 21 million euros were invested in infrastructure and equipment last year.

A big thank you goes to the volunteers who work tirelessly in northern Hesse. The donations for fire protection are not only a financial boost, but also a sign of appreciation. New notices were recently handed over to four municipalities: In Heringen, 154,275 euros will be allocated for the construction of a new fire station in the Herfa district, while Spangenberg will receive 392,150 euros for a new fire station in the planned vehicle hall. In addition, Borken will receive 47,520 euros to purchase a command vehicle, and the Meinhard Volunteer Fire Department can look forward to 45,430 euros for a new portable pump vehicle.

Funding in detail

This financial aid is part of a larger strategy by the state government. Loud hessen.de In the last few months alone, 69 Hessian fire departments were funded with a total of 9.2 million euros. This shows how important the policy of improving equipment and training is. The guaranteed sum for fire protection was increased from 41 million euros in 2020 to 42 million euros in 2021. The funding quota is expected to almost completely cover the needs of the fire departments.

The expansion of the Hessian State Fire Brigade School in Kassel into a modern training center is also commendable. Not only are the emergency services better qualified, but access to digital training offerings is also increased. This brings a breath of fresh air into the often challenging balance of work and volunteering, as annual investments of around 3.2 million euros in volunteer support support firefighters in their important work.

Long-term perspectives

However, the measures taken so far are only the beginning. Since 2016, more than 1,770 emergency vehicles and over 600 structural measures have been funded with over 200 million euros in Hesse. And there is no end to the investments in sight: the state government is planning further support for 2026. This shows the firm will to continue to make the fire departments strong in the future.

Seen this way, the signs are green for the Hessian fire departments: with fresh investments and increased volunteer work, fire protection work in the communities is being raised to a new level. A good hand not only brings safety and protection to the emergency services, but also to the entire population.
