Cultural festival in Lahntorpark: A festival for the whole family!
On July 8, 2025, the exciting cultural festival “Rappeln in der Kiste” took place in the Lahntorpark in Butzbach. The event attracted families, neighbors and interested adults from the area and invited all generations to celebrate together. The beautifully redesigned Lahntorpark, which was previously equipped with relaxation areas, reading corners, outdoor games, chess tables and a large stage, was the ideal location for this festival. The cooperative thegood.house also celebrated its fifth anniversary on this day.
The program started under the motto “School is out” with a rousing performance by sound researchers Dr. Kling and Dr. Sound. From there, a wide range of workshops awaited visitors, organized by local associations and volunteers. Those interested could, among other things, try out painting with natural colors, building an insect hotel or playing boules. The Butzbach JVA's reading program was particularly exciting, giving children insights into life behind prison walls.
A colorful festival for everyone
The partner organizations, including the Butzbach JVA, the Saugarten Association, the Naturblick Nature School, the Alliance for Democracy and Human Dignity and NABU Butzbach, made a significant contribution to the success of the festival. On Sunday morning, the second Butzbach community flea market also took place in Lahntorpark, where smoothness and a good atmosphere met. For the little festival visitors, Rita Kobel offered children's tightrope walking, while the ADFC Wetterau and the Butzbacher Fahrradwerkstatt carried out bicycle checks.
The voluntary commitment was clearly noticeable at the festival. At the closing ceremony, which included a thank you party for the helpers, visitors were able to enjoy a lavish cake buffet and music from the swing band The Groove Merchants. Minister of State Natalie Pawlik presented thank-you gifts to the volunteers and did not miss the opportunity to say a greeting.
A meeting place for generations
The marketplace in thegood.house in Butzbach is not only a culinary meeting place with a café, bistro and a wine bar, it is also a place where people of all generations can come together. The focus is on meeting the needs of families with young children and the elderly. Freedom of movement, space for strollers and walkers as well as play areas are the focus. The market square is the perfect place to linger, get information about local offers or simply exchange ideas with others.
dasgute.haus offers modern workplaces and flexible childcare for freelancers, commuters and young parents. This enables a better compatibility of family and work and makes the overall offer particularly attractive. The care options help to bridge waiting times for kindergarten places, while the proximity to the children makes it easier to return to work after parental leave.
The festival not only brought joy and entertainment, but also strengthened the community's otherwise so intense sense of togetherness. The organizing organizations and the volunteers showed with passion how important a lively coexistence is in Butzbach.
