Pastor Alexander Wohlfahrt: Return to the home of music and faith community

In the Konradsdorf neighborhood of the Protestant deanery of Büdinger Land, a fresh wind has blown into the church landscape: Pastor Alexander Wohlfahrt has returned to his Upper Hesse homeland after several years on the coast. Born in Gedern and raised in Merkenfritz, Wohlfahrt has already made many contacts with community members in Bleichenbach and Gelnhaar. He describes both places as active villages in which club life and neighborly relationships are strong. It is important to him to be present in this community and to create a vibrant church. That's what she reports FNP.

Organizing church services is at the top of his agenda. Wohlfahrt combines classic liturgical elements with old and new songs, which gives the services a special touch. His interest in music has accompanied him since his childhood, when he took piano lessons and taught himself to play the organ. He also recently pointed out the importance of church music, which plays a major role in the Evangelical Church in Hesse-Nassau. Here faith and music live hand in hand, which is also the case Church music website emphasized.

New faces in the team

But it's not just welfare that is bringing a breath of fresh air to the region. Since August 1, 2025, Pastor Daniela Wieners has been strengthening the annunciation team in the Konradsdorf neighborhood. She brings with her a wide range of professional experience, having worked in Sinntal and Hanau-Steinheim for the last few years. She has now moved into the empty Protestant rectory in Ranstadt with her husband and two sons. Wieners sees great value in working with committed teams and has already celebrated the first church services on the Nidder. She is also planning Thanksgiving services in Wippenbach and Effolderbach to give the community new impulses. Her experiences reflect the structural change in the Evangelical Church, whereby she always strives for new concepts to promote a vibrant church.

The challenges facing the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau are diverse. Both Wohlfahrt and Wieners emphasize the need to promote community and further expand the integration of music into church services. This attitude is also reflected in the numerous initiatives that the deanery launches to create an attractive church landscape.

Wohlfahrt himself brings not only his musical preferences, but also his love of nature. He enjoys exploring the picturesque Wetterau with his 13-year-old son and takes the opportunity to immerse himself in nature. He is also an enthusiastic reader of fiction, with a particular interest in authors such as Adalbert Stifter, Hermann Hesse and Thomas Mann, which further broadens his intellectual horizons.
