Oeserstrasse level crossing closed until July – diversions divided!
A construction site marathon starts in Frankfurt-Nied: From Friday, June 20th, the level crossing on Oeserstrasse will be closed to cars and will remain closed until July 18th. The railway line between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden will also be completely shut down during this time. The reason for these massive restrictions is the construction of a barrier-free pedestrian underpass, which is intended to enable safe crossing of the railway line. How fr.de reports, the Office for Road Construction and Development (ASE) will work with DB InfraGO AG to install a prefabricated frame structure in order to meet the accessibility requirements.
However, this represents a real challenge for residents and commuters. Construction work will take place at night, so some noise is to be expected. In order to minimize the impact on residents, mobile noise barriers are set up and, in special cases, hotel accommodation is even offered for affected residents. There was already an information event at the end of May at which citizens were informed about the project.
Diversions and measures
The diversions for car traffic lead via Waldschulstrasse, Mainzer Landstrasse and Alt-Nied. However, pedestrians and cyclists can still use the level crossing in the eastern area. Loud frankfurt.de As a result of the planned measures, the level crossing will not only be dismantled, but will also be replaced by a separate road underpass for car traffic. This important intersection between a busy street and the Frankfurt am Main – Wiesbaden railway line is therefore undergoing a thorough upgrade.
The entire project, which aims to create barrier-free infrastructure, is scheduled for completion in mid-2026. The renovation is part of a larger initiative to improve accessibility at train and transport stations, which is supported by government funding worth around 140 million euros. Further information can be found on the DB website, where the presentation of the work will also be available from June 20th to July 18th. Detailed information about the initiative can also be found in the announcement from Deutsche Bahn dbinfrago.com.
