From karting to Formula 4: Jacob Trost conquers the race track!

Something is happening in motorsport and especially with young talent! Jacob Trost, a sponsored driver for the ADAC Hessen-Thuringia, has taken a decisive step in his racing career. The young driver tested a Formula 4 vehicle for the first time and continued his impressive development. His journey began during the Corona period at the “Scuderia Wiesbaden WMSC e.V. in the ADAC”, where he quickly demonstrated his skills in karting, reports Wiesbaden Current.

After completing a licensing course, Trost achieved his first successes in karting slalom and showed exceptional talent. Within a year he then switched to the kart circuit, and in 2024 Trost found himself in the German Kart Championship (DKM), where he competed for the “Dutt Motorsport” team in the “X30 Senior” class. He was able to secure fifth place in the test run of the East German ADAC Kart Cup (OAKC), which promptly gave him the opportunity to test a Formula 4 vehicle.

A leap into the unknown

So everything went faster than expected: Just two days after his acceptance, Trost traveled to Stuttgart to prepare for the big adventure. He then competed in a formula car at the Autodrom Brno in the Czech Republic without any previous experience. The result? A remarkable fourth place in the race, in which he shone with impressive calm and overview. Now he is turning his attention to the next steps in his career, where he urgently needs reliable partners and sponsors.

But Trost's success is no coincidence. The ADAC has launched a strong program to promote young talent. How Motorsport magazine reports, the “Road to DTM” initiative is now being expanded to include the German Kart Championship (DKM). The aim is to make it easier for promising drivers like Jacob Trost to make the transition from karting to automobile racing.

The German Kart Championship is on the rise

The new DKM season starts next weekend in Arena E in Mülsen, and the competition is fierce. Almost 190 drivers will compete in six classes, with the DKM being seen as a springboard for careers in motorsport. Many of today's DTM champions set their first foot in the door here. Motorsport XL announces that the list of participants also includes well-known names, including reigning champion Stan Pex from the Netherlands.

The DKM not only offers an exciting platform for participants, but also valuable rewards for the best. At the end of the season, an outstanding driver will be rewarded with an entry-free starting place in the ADAC GT4 Germany, and the best young driver will have the opportunity to start in the ADAC GT Masters. For many, this path opens the door to the DTM – and that is exactly what Jacob Trost is striving for.

Looking into the future promises a lot of excitement and a number of challenges for Trost and his colleagues. With a trained eye on current developments and the support of the ADAC program, he could soon take the next big step in his motorsport career!
