Traffic chaos on B211: Residents suffer from construction site and noise!

On the B211 between Loy and Großenmeer is currently under heavy construction. This construction site is causing many drivers to take secondary routes, which poses a challenge for both residents and road traffic. Those who live here report increased noise and damage on their streets. Car drivers and truck drivers are increasingly using closed routes to avoid the construction site, which is leading to an increase in traffic in small towns.

According to the state authority for road construction and traffic, the official diversion runs via Oldenburg-Ohmstede, Elsfleth and Brake. However, these recommendations do not appear to deter all drivers from seeking alternative routes. Residents along Nordermoorer Damm are concerned about increased traffic in their area, and photos show the damage to the roads, including bulging road edges and shifting concrete slabs.

Construction period and traffic disruptions

The complete construction phase on the B211 is completed byNovember 14, 2025set like that Traffic Management Center Lower Saxony informed. New asphalt will be laid at the intersections of the B211 with Kuhlerstraße and Meerkircher Straße. During the work, the B211 will be closed on one side, but both directions will remain accessible. Access for residents is ensured via Kuhlerstraße and Meerkircher Straße.

The traffic situation is already tense and slow traffic and possible traffic jams are to be expected. The road traffic office has not yet reported any problems with diversions on Kleibroker Straße and Birkenstraße. Weight restrictions for trucks apply here: a maximum of 9 tonnes on Kleibroker Straße and 7.5 tonnes on Birkenstraße. In addition, a complete closure of the Nordermoordamm from November 4th to 7th was requested and approved.

Traffic congestion in Lower Saxony

The current construction site is not an isolated case in Lower Saxony. According to one Evaluation There were over 3,200 traffic jams on Lower Saxony's motorways and federal highways in 2024, which led to a total increase in traffic jam times of 14.7%. One of the main causes are construction sites and high traffic volumes, especially during rush hour in the Hanover, Braunschweig and Wolfsburg areas.

In view of the persistently high traffic volumes and the upcoming construction work, drivers should pay attention to the current traffic situation. Especially in traffic jams, it is advisable to find out about the traffic situation in advance in order to avoid diversions, which are often also overloaded.

The patience of the residents is being tested, but the construction work is long overdue and is intended to help improve the infrastructure. It remains to be hoped that the traffic situation will soon be considerably relaxed again.
