What will happen on the labor market in August 2025? In the Celle Employment Agency district, which extends across the Celle district and the Heidekreis, the current figures show a mixed picture. As the Celle press reported that unemployment fell slightly compared to the previous month. A total of 11,065 people are registered as unemployed, which means a decrease of 28 people or 0.3%. However, the number increased by 606 people year-on-year, an increase of 6%.
The unemployment rate remains stable at 6.4%, which has increased by 0.4 percentage points compared to the previous year. Underemployment, which includes people in employment who work less than 15 hours per week, stands at 13,063 people - a decrease of 79 people from the previous month.
Job offers and feedback
There were 444 new job openings reported in August, a decrease of 136 compared to July and 21 compared to last year. A look at the figures in detail shows that unemployment in the SGB III jurisdiction includes 3,767 people, which corresponds to a decrease of 115 compared to the previous month, while unemployment in the SGB II jurisdiction is 7,298 people - there was an increase of 87 people.
An encouraging sign is the 3,093 vacant positions in the employment agency's inventory. But what are the challenges? The Federal Ministry of Labor informs that the majority of job offers are reported by employers via the employment agencies. The examination of the unemployment figures and offers shows that the region definitely has potential, but the gap compared to the previous year remains a challenge.
Regional differences
We take a closer look at the region. In the Celle district, unemployment fell to 5,905 people, which represents a decrease of 78 people compared to the previous month and an increase of 452 people compared to the previous year. The unemployment rate here is 6.2%. However, the situation looks different in the Heidekreis: Here unemployment has risen to 5,160 people, which means an increase of 50 compared to the previous month.

In the Celle district, 1,260 people were registered as unemployed and 1,337 were able to end their unemployment, including 423 with a new job. In the Heidekreis, however, 856 people registered and 810 found a new job. The difference makes it clear that there are tangible regional differences that have a direct impact on the labor market.
Citizens' money and basic security
Another point of interest is the further development of basic security. In the region, the number of communities in need of basic security has decreased by 4% and is now 10,465. Around 14,261 people are currently receiving citizen's benefit - that's 600 fewer than in the previous year. The Statistics from the Federal Employment Agency offers exciting insights into the development of the labor markets and shows that, despite positive trends, there is still a lot to be done.
In summary, the labor market in the Celle district is on the way to improvement, especially due to new job offers, but the comparison to last year remains challenging. Exciting developments are foreseeable, and it remains to be hoped that the trend will soon stabilize.
