On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the art stage will be the venue for a special musical evening. The ensembleKlezmer's Techter, which offers a masterful combination of artistic power, spirited playing and musical depth with its cast of Gabriela Kaufmann (clarinets), Almut Schwab (accordion, flutes) and Nina Hacker (double bass), together with the talented mezzo-sopranoShay Terryappear. The music ofKlezmerhas its roots in the tradition of Ashkenazi Jews from Central and Eastern Europe. It combines danceable melodies, ritual sounds and grandiose improvisations that are used at weddings and other social occasions. How Wikipedia explains, the term “klezmer” was originally coined to refer to musical instruments and now refers to musicians in Yiddish-speaking contexts.
An evening full of emotions and tradition
Shai Terry, a remarkable young singer, will join the ensemble. She began singing lessons at the age of 13 and was quickly recognized for her talent. Her impressive career took her from Israel to Germany, where she is currently completing a master's degree in solo singing at the Mainz University of Music. Klezmer's Techter and Terry have set themselves the goal of arousing curiosity about Yiddish musical culture and, in addition to their concerts, also offer an interactive children's and family concert.
