Cuxhaven: Anne Brandes impresses with her panfish creation at The Taste”!
In the exciting second episode of the cooking show “The Taste”, which was broadcast on October 30th, Anne Brandes from Cuxhaven faced the challenges of the prominent jurors. The last available places in the teams were allocated here and the competition was tough. Only three places were still available, while Alexander Herrmann's team was already full. Anne impressed with an exquisite North German version of Hamburg Panfish on her spoon, consisting of various delicious ingredients that she cleverly combined.
Her creation included fish, a souffled potato ball with potato mustard espuma, fried salmon fillet, confit shallots, chives, a crispy bacon chip and a wild garlic flower from her own garden. The jurors were impressed by the look of the dish. Elif Oskan praised it: “It looks pretty,” while Alexander Herrmann and Steffen Henssler acknowledged that they were “some of the final spoons.” Tim Raue described the dish as a tasteful beauty, and the coaches gave Anne a standing ovation for her performance.
The decision for Tim Raue
Despite the nervousness she felt while cooking, Anne received the green light from three jurors - Herrmann was unable to award any further places. Oskan said encouragingly: “You can be proud of yourself.” Ultimately, Brandes chose Tim Raue as her coach, which made him visibly enthusiastic.
In the first team cooking, which had the motto “Amore” and was guest judge Roland Trettl, the candidates had to prepare dishes that had to do with heart. For her dish, Anne chose to cook a duck breast roulade with a farce of almonds and vanilla. She also served a chicken cream sauce, fried pointed cabbage and a cherry ragout - according to the motto, whatever your heart desires.
A tough competition
The second episode presented the candidates with major challenges. In an intensive stress test it was all or nothing, and the coaches - in addition to Tim Raue, Roland Trettl, Alexander Herrmann, Elif Oskan and Steffen Henssler - were challenged to complete their teams. The judging was merciless: Priscilla and Franca had to leave the show after critical feedback, while Tim Raue and his team won victory with a dessert in the style of a Black Forest cake.
In another challenge, Trettl ordered the contestants to cook alone, and onion was chosen as their favorite ingredient. Anne prepared sea bass with onion-blueberry chutney and onion stock. Her taste was convincing, even if she didn't receive a star, her progression was still assured. Anne Brandes remains part of Team Red and will demonstrate her skills again next week.
So it remains to be seen what surprises and culinary delights await us in the next episode of “The Taste”. The journey has just begun and for Anne Brandes this could be the first step on the way to further success.
