Reading day in Cuxhaven: Authors read from Finds from Cuxhaven”!

On Friday, November 21, 2025, the Cuxhaven City Library will once again be a meeting place for book lovers and reading alouds. As part of the Nationwide reading day, which has been initiated by DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lese and the Deutsche Bahn Foundation since 2004, an inspiring program is offered here from morning to evening. The aim of the reading day is to promote enthusiasm for reading among young and old, which has grown from the beginning from 1,900 participants to now over a million.

The morning is dedicated to the little ones: between pictures and stories, kindergarten children can look forward to an exciting picture book cinema run by Mayor Uwe Santjer. From 4 p.m. the library will be transformed into a reading stage for adults. You will be able to hear readings from four Cuxhaven authors who will read from the book “Findings from Cuxhaven”.

Insight into the “found objects”

“Findings from Cuxhaven” is a colorful follow-up to “Fresh Greetings from Cuxhaven” and contains poems, short stories, anecdotes and fables, all of which have a connection to the beautiful coastal town. The authors are well known in the region and are happy to share their personal stories with listeners.

A special highlight: After the reading, listeners have the opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed directly by the authors. “We don’t just want to tell stories, we also want to create a meeting place,” said one of the organizers.

Maps and drink service

The prices for the event are moderate and cost 3.00 euros in advance, available in the library. Tickets can be reserved both by email and by telephone. If there are any remaining tickets left on the day of the event, they can also be purchased before the reading begins.

The “Deine Bibliothek” support association takes care of your physical well-being and offers drinks, thus underlining the cozy atmosphere of the event. The event is organized together with the Oliva bookstore to make the reading day a special experience for everyone involved.

The Cuxhaven City Library cordially invites everyone who is interested to take part in this special day and share the joy of reading. Reading Day is more than just an event – it is a celebration of literature and community. Further information can be found on the official website of the Cuxhaven City Library.
