Brinkumer 3Days: Football for a good cause inspires in Stuhr!

On August 17, 2025, the now traditional football tournament “Brinkumer 3Days” took place on the festival site on Brunnenweg in Stuhr. This once again sent a significant signal for a good cause. This year, 22 teams competed, including the BWS 1994 team, which comes from the Stuhr residential home for the disabled, and the committed group “Kickers for Help”. The impetus was given by the mayor of Stuhr, Stephan Korte, marking the sporting start of an event with heart.

The tournament winners of this year's event were the Old Boys Brinkum. What is particularly impressive about this tournament is the composition of the teams: 50 percent of the players were people with disabilities, which made the event a true celebration of integration. This is in line with the goal of BWS 1994, which was launched in 1994 with the support of the association's founder Emil Precht to promote and support people with disabilities.

Strong community and solidarity

The event has a long history and this year was the fifth three-day edition. The eighth football tournament for a good cause has now taken place, organized by “Kickers for Help”, Bremer Tor Event and the Brinkum shooting club. Thomas Schaaf, the former coach of Werder Bremen, was won as patron. The proceeds from the tournament not only benefit BWS 1994, but also support the family of a man who is in hospital after a serious motorcycle accident. This solidarity flatters the entire community and shows that no one is left alone in Stuhr.

Many thanks also go to the Brinkum youth fire brigade with 64 active young people who actively helped with the implementation of the tournament. This commitment not only promotes a sense of community, but also ensures that low-income families have the opportunity to participate in such events.

Insights and outlooks

But it wasn't just the sporting side that was celebrated. An auction of professional jerseys from the two major football clubs Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich also provided additional incentive and fun. The previous events, including an exuberant 2000 party on Friday and the Brinkumer Schützenfest on Sunday, made the weekend an absolute highlight in the region's event calendar.

The rules of the tournament were very special. For example, a throw-in counted as a goal if the goalkeeper touched the ball - a rule that caused both excitement and a lot of laughs. This year there was even one less team than originally planned, but that didn't dampen the spirit.

With each passing year the event grows and awareness of the importance of inclusion and community continues to grow. The organizer has a good knack for putting together such events and support remains high. A complete success for everyone who came together as part of the “Brinkumer 3Days”: for fun, community and, above all, for a good cause.
