European Festival in Syke: Celebrate, make music and enjoy on June 29th!
On Sunday, June 29th, the Europagarten in Syke on Zum Hachepark Street will once again be transformed into a lively center for European culture and sociability. The European Festival, now held for the tenth time, is organized by Gerhard Thiel and once again offers a colorful program for all age groups. The event, which is organized in collaboration with the Kreissparkasse and the Syker Kneipp Association as well as the European Union of the Diepholz district, promises all sorts of surprises and highlights.
The new chairman of the European Union, Marc Küpker, who also works as a teacher and European representative at the Sulingen high school, underlines the aim of the event: to promote European ideas, celebrate cultural diversity and counteract nationalism. Visitors can look forward to exciting activities such as a Europe puzzle and a city-country-river trivia game. In addition, the musical entertainment by Tina Härtl, who presents a variety of European music pieces, will delight not only ears but also hearts.
Culinary and community
From a culinary point of view, no one is left out either. The German-French Friends of Syke provides a tempting offering: from wines and cold drinks to coffee and cake and delicious crepes. The ice cream truck from the La Piazza ice cream parlor will be offering its sweet delicacies from around 5 p.m., while the Kneipp club will offer the opportunity to exchange sports equipment such as yoga mats and Nordic walking sticks. There is something for every taste here!
A very special highlight of the festival is the long-standing town twinning between Syke and La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, which has existed for over 50 years. These friendly relations were created in 1973 and cover several municipalities, including Beaumont-sur-Dême and Ruillé-sur-Loir. Over the years, the partnership has brought with it numerous exchanges and mutual visits supported by fire departments, schools and various clubs.
A celebration for everyone
The European Festival invites everyone who is interested, whether young or old, to experience a piece of European culture together. Benches and tables are provided, and your own camping chairs are welcome. Visitors can come together in a relaxed atmosphere, make new acquaintances and enjoy the European diversity.
The active support of the German-French Friends of Syke, which was founded in 1987, also plays an important role. Under the leadership of Eberhard Schierenbeck, the association organizes regular meetings, language courses and even study trips to France in order to further promote understanding and exchange and to strengthen mutual cooperation.
There is great anticipation for the European Festival - don't miss this special event in Syke! Enjoy an afternoon full of music, culinary delights and European community. Come by and bring friends and family!
