Gesine von Papenburg Circle of Friends: Honorary position of the month honored!
Volunteering is very important in the Emsland district. The “Excellent!Volunteering” campaign will start from July 5, 2025, with the first prize winner, the Gesine von Papenburg Circle of Friends, is already drawing attention. The Emsland district launched this initiative to make voluntary commitment in the region more visible and to recognize it.
The circle of friends is dedicated to the preservation and care of the Frisian ship “Gesine von Papenburg”, an impressive two-masted coastal sailing vessel. The association not only brings maritime heritage to cities, but also ensures that people of all ages can take part in traditional events. Maritime education is also promoted through rides for individuals, groups and especially youth groups. This valuable work was carried out by the head of the social department, Dr. Sigrid Kraujuttis was particularly highlighted, who spoke positively about the selection of the first club.
Commitment in different areas
The new campaign “Excellent!Volunteering” will honor a person, a club or an initiative every month on the 5th. This covers many different areas, including social work, cultural preservation, environmental protection and sport. How Regional update reports, the aim is to shed light on various facets of volunteering in order to honor the diversity in the region. Citizens are invited to submit suggestions for possible awards, with free commitment being a basic requirement.
Such a commitment is not only important for the community, but also an enrichment for the volunteers themselves. Volunteering promotes social contacts and strengthens personal satisfaction, like the portal Statista determines. Sports clubs are particularly popular in Germany, with almost 86,000 organizations representing the most common form of involvement.
A call for support
The Gesine von Papenburg Circle of Friends also offers the public the opportunity to get involved. Interested parties are invited to the official website to contact the club. The “Excellent!Volunteering” campaign aims to present volunteer work to a broad public and thus raise awareness of the invaluable value of volunteer work. A portrait of the club will be published on social media channels from June 5th.
At a time when volunteering has become indispensable for exchange and support in the community, this new recognition will create a valuable platform to inspire even more people to volunteer.
