New palliative network EL-PaHo starts with a central website!
At a time when the right support for seriously ill and dying people is the top priority, the Emsland palliative and hospice network EL-PaHo has taken a significant step forward. On October 27, 2025, the organization's new website was presented, which offers a central contact point for information about palliative and hospice care in the Emsland district. This initiative aims to increase the quality of life of those affected and their relatives and to support them in difficult times, as regionalupdate.de reports.
Dr. Sigrid Kraujuttis, the district's head of social affairs, praised the website as an indispensable tool for network partners and a valuable resource for everyone involved in palliative care. Timo Deiters, Head of Department for Health Region and Social Services, emphasized the quick access to required information and advice services guaranteed by this platform.
A wide range of offers
The website not only bundles offers of help, but also provides training and events on palliative care. Silke Jank, the network coordinator from the Ludwig-Windthorst-Haus, emphasizes that this platform is particularly important for affected families, even in times when quick support is necessary. The EL-PaHo network itself was launched in 2024 and is closely linked to medical professionals and care facilities to ensure high-quality care.
Another focus of the new website is specialized outpatient palliative care (SAPV). This enables patients to be treated in a familiar environment at home or in a similar setting. An interdisciplinary team of doctors and nurses ensures individual care that is tailored to the specific needs of the patient. The goal of SAPV is to improve quality of life and relieve pain and other distressing symptoms, while also supporting relatives during this challenging time, as emslaendisches-palliativ-und-hospiznetzwerk.de reports.
Palliative care in Germany
In addition, there is an impressive number of outpatient and inpatient support in Germany. Around 270 inpatient hospices and around 1,500 outpatient hospice services are available, which are supported by around 100,000 volunteers. These helping hands are an essential part of palliative care and bring light into the darkest hours of those affected and their families.
The introduction of the new website of the Emsland Palliative and Hospice Network is therefore a significant step in the right direction in order to provide everyone involved with the necessary support. The initiative reflects the regional commitment to palliative care and shows that no one is left alone in difficult times.
