Students and teachers in Jever raise over 5,300 euros for SOS Children's Villages!
A remarkable fundraising run was recently organized by the Mariengymnasium in Jever, in which a total of 185 students and teachers took part. This event took place under the motto “MG on the run – run together, help together!” and was organized for the benefit of the SOS Children's Village Wilhelmshaven-Friesland. The efforts of the organizers, including the student representatives Tobias Minßen, Philipp Griepenkerl and Felix Fischer as well as the SV teacher Britta Herzog, were warmly welcomed to bring this good cause to life. The run offered a great opportunity to be active for a good cause and promote a sense of community.
The route took the participants around the skating facility on Jahnstrasse and was around 900 meters long. The runners completed between 4 and 15 laps, depending on their personal fitness and motivation, in warm summer weather. It is noteworthy that an impressive 5,375 euros in donations had already been received by the beginning of July, as NWZonline reports. The donation account will also remain open until August 16th, giving participants the opportunity to collect additional amounts.
Successful community campaign
The commitment of the participants was so great that the original donation goal of 2,000 euros was significantly exceeded. Thanks to close cooperation and support from numerous sponsors, all proceeds can benefit the SOS Children's Village in Wilhelmshaven-Friesland. As the official website of the Mariengymnasium explains, further donations can be made easily via a donation page or via a QR code on flyers and the homepage. It is encouraging to see how the school community has come together to support such an important cause.
A big thank you also goes to everyone who helped organize the run, especially Ms. Graichen and the sports department. The school paramedics and the sports courses from Q1 and Class 11 also helped actively to make the event run smoothly. Another highlight was the provision of fruit and drinks for the runners, provided by the Mariengymnasium support association.
Looking into the future
Overall, the fundraising run is considered a complete success and there are already plans to repeat this great event next year. This could create a tradition that combines both sporting and social aspects in a very friendly way. We wish the participants and organizers a nice day of hiking and a good start to their well-deserved vacation!
