Eintracht Northeim: KSN Cup exit after two bankruptcies – Göttingen 05 celebrates!

The 2025 KSN Cup season, a top-class preparatory tournament, made headlines in Northeim. On July 17, 2025, the focus will be on the results of FC Eintracht Northeim, who were quickly eliminated from the tournament after a failed start. The dream of the title was over after just two games. In the first group game, coach Philipp Weißenborn's team suffered a disappointing 4-0 setback against 1. SC Göttingen 05 and had to play against SV Alfeld on the same day, where a narrow 1-0 defeat meant they were finally eliminated.

The Northeim team's performance in the opening match was particularly bitter, as the team didn't have its best day. Göttingen 05, the eventual group winners, showed strong afterwards and set another exclamation mark with a 4-1 win against Alfeld. Jannis Wenzel shone with an impressive performance that earned him a goal and two more goals from penalties.

The tournament at a glance

The KSN Cup, which will take place from July 15 to 19, 2025, is a tournament that not only serves to prepare for the season, but also brings together the best regional soccer teams. In addition to Eintracht Northeim and Göttingen, SSV Nörten-Hardenberg, SC Hainberg, TuSpo Petershütte and SV Alfeld are also taking part. The games will be played in a free-for-all format, followed by a knockout phase for the best teams. The following results emerged in the Northeim group:

The semi-final games have already been determined: On Friday, July 18, 2025, SSV Nörten-Hardenberg and SV Alfeld will duel at 5:30 p.m., while Göttingen 05 will play against SC Hainberg at 7:00 p.m. The final games will take place on Saturday in the Gustav Wegner Stadium in Northeim. This year's main sponsor, Kreis-Sparkasse Northeim, is supporting the event, which is expected to attract large numbers of spectators and invigorate the local football scene.

Half a league full of talent

Another highlight for the region is the upcoming 2nd KSN Junior Cup, which will take place in Northeim on the Pentecost weekend and will attract youth departments from Germany and abroad. 36 U13 teams will compete, including teams from Denmark, Poland and France. Eintracht Northeim will be represented with two of its own teams in the tournament, which is intended to make a valuable contribution to international understanding not only in sports but also culturally.

Mayor Simon Hartmann supports the project as patron and emphasizes the importance of the volunteers, without whom such an event would hardly be possible. With around 100 volunteers taking care of the event and a high number of visitors of around 1,000 guests per day, the local gastronomy will also benefit from the event. Parallel to the tournament, a large concert is also planned on the Waldbühne, which offers visitors a varied program.

For everyone interested in football, it remains to be seen how the further games in the KSN Cup will develop and which teams will fight for the title in the final. Reports on the progress and results of the tournament remain exciting and will be followed up on the respective platforms. While Eintracht Northeim is already out of the race, the group of favorites for the title remains open.
