There will be exciting news on July 13, 2025, because Björn Brauns, the operations manager and swimming master, took over the outdoor pool last season and has been ensuring the best conditions ever since. At 38 years old, he not only brings experience but also passion. Göttingen Tageblatt reports that the outdoor pool is known for having the warmest water in the region, which is a real advantage on hot summer days.

The swimming master particularly enjoys working on the edge of the pool. Brauns, who originally spent his free time on the trains in the Berchtesgaden Alps, completed his training in the municipality of Oberweser in the spas of Gieselwerder and Oedlesheim. Shortly after completing his training, he started working at Stadtwerke Northeim, where he worked in a swimming pool for twelve years before moving to the outdoor pool.

Everyday life in the outdoor pool

However, Brauns not only takes care of the technology for the outdoor pool, but also takes care of service and personnel planning. The day starts early for him because before the cash register opens he prepares everything and removes traces of bathers. On a particularly beautiful day he was able to welcome an impressive number of 2,500 bathers. Despite the high number of people, Brauns keeps a cool head and sometimes has to call bathers to order if the rules are not followed.

Another highlight of Brauns' work is his own swimming school in Northeim, where he offers swimming courses. To ensure the safety of young bathers, he introduced a smoking ban around the children's pools. The collaboration with his team, especially with his deputy Antje Eberhard, is going extremely well, and a joint trip for the team is also on the agenda.

The outdoor pool in Rosdorf is not alone. Other swimming pools in the region are also facing challenges. How HNA reported, the forest swimming pool in Fuldatal only had to close for seven days on July 12, 2022 due to a lack of staff. Support came from two specialists from Vellmar to maintain operational safety and check hygiene during the closure. There were similar problems in the outdoor swimming pool in Obervellmar, which is why citizens turned to the community to organize help.
