Göttingen becomes a street art gallery: Discover the Graffiti Walk!
Things are getting colorful in Göttingen! Since the beginning of July, the city center has been transformed into a lively open-air gallery where graffiti art meets creative ideas. Göttingen Marketing GmbH has launched a very special graffiti walk. Over nine large overseas containers at various central locations are filled with stunning works of art designed by regional graffiti artists. The event, which also included a kick-off event on the station forecourt and Jacobikirchhof, not only serves art, but also the community - with music, street food and hands-on activities. HNA reports that the containers will be set up at various locations in the city center for around twelve weeks.
What exactly can visitors expect on this creative tour? The Graffiti Walk includes a total of eight central locations where participants can marvel at large-format works of art. A 90-minute walking tour explores the selected containers in the old town. This tour costs 12 euros and takes place on Friday, July 25th and Wednesday, July 30th. The meeting point for the walking tour is the tourist information center at the market – and the tickets can be booked online. Myregion365
Bicycle tour for art lovers
For those who would like to enjoy the urban art project in a hurry, a bike tour is on the program that lasts around 120 minutes. It starts on Saturday, August 9th at 2 p.m. This bike tour offers the opportunity to discover all nine graffiti containers in the city center, while the ticket price is 13.50 euros.
Art meets society
The graffiti walk aims to open up new perspectives on the city and make young art forms more visible. The project is part of a city strategy to strengthen the city center and is supported by numerous cooperation partners, including 1. SC Göttingen 05, BG Göttingen and many more. The night watchmen emphasizes that art should also be perceived as a creative element in public spaces and thus contributes to the revitalization of the city.
The Graffiti Walk not only celebrates street art, but also the colorful togetherness of our community. It will be exciting to see how these artistic containers and the associated events conquer not only the city but also the hearts of Göttingen people in the coming weeks.
