Discover Jürgenohl: Your favorite places for the 2026 photo calendar!
Something is happening in Goslar! The city administration invites everyone aged 14 and over to take part in a creative hands-on activity. We are looking for personal favorite places in the Jürgenohl redevelopment area, which will then be immortalized in a photo calendar for 2026. The aim is to put the diversity and beauty of this district in the right light. Whether green retreats, hidden corners, picturesque gardens or special buildings – citizens are asked to submit their most beautiful motifs. The City of Goslar has set a submission deadline of August 31, 2025. The photos can be easily sent by email to foto@goslar.de, whereby submitters must provide their full name and the location where they were taken. Young people under the age of 18 require a declaration of consent from their parents.
But what is actually behind this campaign? Jürgenohl, the most populous district of Goslar, was originally designed as a residential area in the 1950s and 60s. However, it no longer meets the modern requirements and demands of residents. The city is therefore carrying out extensive renovation measures to make the area attractive again. As regionalheute.de reports, the market square is being converted into a multifunctional communication and event location. For this purpose, around 2.5 million euros will flow into the extensive construction work, which will be supported by private measures in addition to funding from programs.
Renovation projects and citizen participation
In addition to the redesign of the market square, the renovation measures in Jürgenohl also include the renovation of Bromberger Straße, which was completed in 2021 for 680,000 euros. In addition, the B6 youth center will be renovated to make it more energy-efficient and barrier-free, which will cost 400,000 euros. The active participation of the residents is of great importance for all of these projects. Ultimately, citizen participation not only brings ideas for design, but also strengthens social cohesion in the district.
In order to support smaller projects, the city has set up a disposal fund. You can apply for up to 1,000 euros per project, which serves to strengthen social interaction. Initiatives such as “Jürgenohl is blooming” for summer planting are supported or the visual enhancement of passage areas is promoted. Supporting festivals and markets in Jürgenohl also benefits the sense of community. The programs that the city of Goslar implements are part of the nationwide “Social City” program, which has been funded by the federal government since 1999 and is dedicated to urban development and improving living conditions in disadvantaged districts. According to the information on staedtebaufoerderung.info, a total of 965 areas in 544 municipalities were supported by 2019 in order to strengthen social cohesion and improve public services.
With the latest hands-on campaign, the city administration is not only aiming to show the beauty of the district, but also to actively involve the people in the area. Anyone interested has the opportunity to participate in the redesign and revitalization of their living environment and thus create a piece of identity for Jürgenohl.
