Creative course for women: My Home” starts in the Nordhorn City Museum!
Something is happening in Nordhorn for women with creative ambitions! The new weekly creative course entitled “My Homeland. Textile Landscapes” starts on November 5, 2025 at the Nordhorn City Museum. This course is aimed at women from all over the world who want to engage with textile design techniques in art. Participants have the opportunity to artistically explore their origins and their current living situation in the county of Bentheim in six meetings. The course takes place every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., until the last date on December 10, 2025. The topics range from home and belonging to changes between the old and new world of life.
The creative project is organized by the integration coordination office of the Grafschaft Bentheim district sports association, the equal opportunities officer of the city of Nordhorn and the district's cultural manager. Particular emphasis is placed on cultural exchange, which is essential in today's world. [Nordnews] reports that such an offer not only promotes art itself, but also dialogue between different cultures. The resulting works will be on display in the foyer of the city museum in early 2026.
Creative and intercultural: a space for exchange
The course is not only open to women with migration experience, but is also aimed at participants without a migration history. The maximum number of participants is limited to 12 places, which enables intensive support and exchange. In order to take part, prior registration is necessary. Anyone interested can register with Anja Milewski at the email address anja.milewski@nordhorn.de or by phone at 05921 878237.
Textile art opens doors to reflecting on your own stories and identity-forming themes. This corresponds to the goal that [regionalupdate] also emphasizes: artistic creation should provide food for thought and contribute to a better understanding of one another. The course offers a framework for creatively transforming old feelings of home into new landscape images. Participants can draw inspiration from cityscapes, nature and cultural symbols while incorporating their own story into the work.
The aim of the course is also in line with the goals of international cultural exchange projects. [Goethe] points out that such initiatives are important to promote understanding of different positions and values. Cultural encounters stimulate dialogue about social issues, which is particularly valuable in our globalized world.
In summary, “My Home. Textile Landscapes” not only brings a creative project to life, but also creates a space that encourages exchange and offers women the opportunity to reinterpret their cultural roots. If you would like to become part of this intercultural adventure, you shouldn't miss out on registering!
