Nordhorn shines in the bicycle climate test: Wietmarschen in 7th place!

In the current one ADFC bicycle climate test the county of Bentheim has achieved excellent results. Nordhorn in particular stands out, as the city takes second place in the category of cities with 50,000 to 100,000 inhabitants. The nationwide ranking shows that the conditions for cyclists in the region are more than just good.

Wietmarschen surprised with a solid seventh place and received a school grade of 2.95. Compared to the last participation in 2022, when the community could not be ranked due to a lack of ratings, this is a clear sign of improvement. In addition, the County of Bentheim's other rankings show that the entire region is strong in the cycling market:

  • Uelsen: Platz 25 (Note 3,24)
  • Bad Bentheim: Platz 51 (Note 3,43)
  • Neuenhaus: Platz 105 (Note 3,62)

Results and evaluations

The evaluation of the survey results, which took place from September to the end of November 2024, is an important tool for the municipalities. With almost 1,000 online participants, including 28 additional votes in the last few days, it shows how interested the county residents are in the region's bike-friendliness. The ADFC Grafschaft Bentheim is currently recording the results of 27 questions in order to enable concrete improvements in transport.

Particularly noteworthy are the 150 more participants than in the last survey in 2022, which underlines the increasing relevance of the topic. In addition, the evaluation will be presented to the municipalities in order to incorporate information from the population into new cycling concepts. A look at the ranking shows that the county of Bentheim is in the first half of the 423 participating cities when it comes to bike-friendliness.
