New board elected in the Bad Pyrmont town twinning association!
A lot has happened in Bad Pyrmont: the town twinning association has elected a new board. At the last general meeting on June 17, 2025, the new board members were elected by the members present. Under the chairmanship of Hans Müller, a long-standing active member, the association will launch new projects and cooperation with the partner cities in the future. “We have a good knack for new ideas and want to keep the partnerships alive,” explains Müller, who will now lead the club’s fortunes.
The new board is made up of experienced members and fresh faces who approach the matter with a lot of motivation and commitment. In addition to the chairman, the club also has a new secretary and a cashier, who also want to start the club's work with a breath of fresh air. The members were enthusiastic and confident that the new board members will achieve the best for the partnerships between Bad Pyrmont and its partner cities.
The role of partnerships
The city partnerships have always played an important role in intercultural exchange and the promotion of joint projects. These diverse relationships help to build bridges and bring each other closer culturally. The new board would therefore like to organize various events and joint activities in the coming months in order to strengthen the exchange between the communities. “There is something going on,” said the chairman, who is struggling to come up with concrete plans for the future.
But it's not just about change in Bad Pyrmont. There are also new twists on the digital level, particularly in the world of cookies and data protection. The TDDDG (Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) has been in force since December 1st, 2021, and has revised the rules for cookies in Germany. It complements the GDPR and ensures that access to data on end devices, especially with regard to cookies, is clearly regulated. Dr. Data protection notes that there is now also an opt-in principle for cookies, so that users' consent must be obtained before use.
Data protection in new ways
With this new legal regulation, many website operators are required to design their cookie banners accordingly. The legal requirements are clear: A cookie banner is not necessary if no processing that requires consent takes place. However, if cookies are under discussion, they must be listed clearly and understandably. Dr. GDPR adds that there are key differences between technically necessary cookies that do not require consent and other types that require it.
The TDDDG is not only a step in the right direction, but also ensures that users have more control over their data and are better informed about what happens to their information. The first judgments on false cookie banners already show that the regulations are being taken seriously - violations can be punished with fines of up to 300,000 euros. This makes it increasingly important for website operators to both meet legal requirements and offer users a transparent and data protection-friendly experience.
In Bad Pyrmont as well as on a digital level it is clear: change brings opportunities and it is important to actively shape these, both in the city and on the internet.
