Truck fire on the A7: closure causes massive traffic chaos!

A dramatic situation occurred on the A7 motorway between Lutterberg and Hedemünden in the Göttingen district. A truck fire on Friday evening at 7 p.m. caused the route towards Hanover to be completely closed. The semi-trailer of a tractor-trailer loaded with bananas caught fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the driver was able to get to safety in time.

The extinguishing work was difficult as the fire brigade had to fight with embers that flared up again. The fire has now been extinguished, but rescue work is still ongoing and is expected to last until midday. This reports NDR.

Traffic chaos on the A7

The consequences of the fire are clearly noticeable: there has been a significant traffic stop on the A7, which is affecting many drivers in the region. Drivers are urged to avoid the area as far as possible to avoid further disruption. It remains unclear how long the closure will last as the exact damage to the road cannot yet be estimated HNA reported.

A similar situation already occurred on Thursday, April 13th, when another truck due to a technical defect between the Kassel-Nord and Hann junctions. Münden/Lutterberg caught fire. Here too, the driver was uninjured, but the road had to be completely closed on both sides due to heavy smoke. The southbound lane was reopened around 3:45 p.m., while the northbound lane remained closed until midnight. This previous closure also caused long traffic jams in the area.

Severe obstructions can be observed not only on the motorway, but also on country roads and in the city of Kassel, especially during rush hour. The fire department and rescue services employees are working under high pressure to defuse the situation as quickly as possible. Anyone traveling should be prepared for longer waiting times and choose alternative routes.
