Bike tour to Neuengamme: Remembrance and experience nature on September 27th!

An exciting bike tour for all bike enthusiasts is organized by the ADFC Winsen local group. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the group invites you to a trip to Hamburg-Neuengamme, where participants have the opportunity to visit the memorial and learn more about the history of the former concentration camp. District newspaper weekly reports that the meeting point will be at 10 a.m. at the stage on Schlossplatz in Winsen.

The route leads about 40 kilometers via Lassrönne and Stove to Geesthacht. On the way there, a break is planned at a bakery or snack bar, where participants can recharge their energy reserves for the onward journey. After the break, the participants cycle along the picturesque Elbe to Neuengamme. A planned stay there of around 90 minutes is planned, during which there is the opportunity to visit the memorial and watch an impressive 20-minute film about the historical significance of the place.

Return journey and organization

The return journey takes place on the Elbe ferry with a ticket price of just 3 euros. This means that participants can unwind while enjoying the view of the river. The return to Winsen is planned for around 4.30 p.m. For anyone who would like to go on this cultural cycle tour, guests with road-safe bicycles are welcome. The ADFC also welcomes donations to support the tours.

Anyone interested in such events will find that cycling tours through nature and to historical sites are very popular in Germany. Outdooractive offers numerous exciting routes and tips for planning such activities. The combination of sport, leisure and historical learning makes such trips particularly valuable.
