Celle in tennis fever: the youngest regional championships inspire!

Last weekend, more precisely on June 23, 2025, the junior tennis regional championships of the Südheide region took place at TC Rot-Weiß Celle in Groß Hehlen. 42 enthusiastic children competed in the age groups U7 to U10 and ensured exciting matches and lots of tennis action. The excellent conditions and the successful organization further motivated the young players to give their best. While the tournament management was satisfied with the way the event went, they noticed the rather small number of girls taking part, which could perhaps be addressed at future events.

In the U10 category, Clara Fingerhut from MTV Eintracht Celle showed her class and won the title in the final against Kian Frederik Sadegh pour Saleh from TC Munster with a clear 6:2, 6:2. Sadegh pour Saleh previously beat Xaver Machill from SC Vorwerk Celle in the semifinals (6:4, 7:5). Noah Trinkaus and Xaver Machill secured joint third place, both of whom also delivered spectacular games.

The U9 and U8 under observation

In the U10 midcourt competition, the young talents also had to complete a motor skills competition before they could demonstrate their tennis skills. Here Arsenii Antonov from Celler TV BW came out ahead of Garbriel Todorov (MTV Eintracht Celle). In the U9 age group, Jakob Meyer (TC Munster) triumphed after an exciting final against Emil Grünert (MTV Eintracht Celle) with 7:5, 7:6. Mia Hambrock (SV Grün-Weiß Hodenhagen) impressed the U9 girls with an almost perfect performance and collected 99 out of 100 possible points!

In addition, the U7 class found its champion in Henry Fitzpatrick (Celler TV BW), while in the U8 Erik Kirsch (MTV Eintracht Celle) became regional champion with a three-set win against Carlo Wulff (TC Winsen). Jesse Wichmann (ASV Adelheidsdorf) secured third place in the U8.

The regional training in the Hanover region, which is intended for ambitious tennis players between the ages of 7 and 16, could help the young talents to further improve. Through regular training and meetings with trainers, the aim is to achieve a high level of performance, which is beneficial for everyone involved. Such an exchange could also be a further incentive for the boys and girls to get involved in tennis regularly and take part in such tournaments. It will be all the better if the enthusiasm for the sport reaches the girls and we see more female players at future championships!

You can find exact details about the district championships from the associations that regularly organize such events to give young athletes the opportunity to compete at different levels. [WTB reports].

It remains to be hoped for the tennis community that the upcoming events will be just as exciting and that many young talents will take the opportunity to show their skills on the court and support each other. Each of these championships represents a great opportunity for the future of tennis in the region!
