Former Bundeswehr Airbus impresses in the Serengeti Park Hodenhagen!

The Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen has a very special new addition: a decommissioned Bundeswehr Airbus A310, which has now found its home in the animal and leisure park. The transport of the aircraft began at night and was carried out by a heavy-duty transporter over a distance of around ten kilometers. Environmental regulations had to be observed, which meant that branches had to be tied up on hundreds of trees along the transport route in order to protect them. A clever plan that shows that nature also has a say in large projects.

The Airbus, which bears the name “Kurt Schumacher”, was brought to the park from the Lohheide military training area over a period of three nights. Particular attention was paid to the transport route, which partly led through a protected landscape area. The aircraft's fuselage even had to be lowered from 6.80 meters to 5.90 meters to avoid collisions with the trees. A measure that seems complicated at first glance, but underlines that we have a good hand here in terms of environmental protection.

Conversion to a leisure highlight

However, the Airbus' fascinating journey does not end with its arrival at the park. The plan is to convert the aircraft by late summer 2026. The plan is to transform the aircraft into a restaurant with around 200 seats - 150 seats inside the aircraft and another 50 on its wings. This is likely to be a real hit with visitors to the park, who can already look forward to a very special culinary experience.

The Serengeti Park Hodenhagen is known for its more than 1,500 free-roaming wild animals and attracts numerous visitors. In addition to the safari track, guests can also enjoy thrilling roller coaster rides and spectacular shows. The new attraction will certainly make the park even more of a focus for leisure activities, especially when restaurant operations are in full swing.

Insights into the preparations and upcoming developments are eagerly awaited. The “Kurt Schumacher” could not only set a new gastronomic highlight, but also serve as a setting for unforgettable experiences. The creative minds behind this project definitely have a good instinct for optimally integrating this Airbus into the existing park landscape. A visit to Serengeti Park will certainly be an unforgettable adventure!
