Pure excitement: Bavenstedt triumphs in the semi-finals of the Kehrwieder Cup!

Today, July 12, 2025, local football in Hildesheim is looking forward to exciting duels in the KEHRWIEDER Cup. The big final between SV Newroz Hildesheim and SV Bavenstedt is on Sunday at 4 p.m. Both teams prevailed in thrilling semi-final games and are now eager to win the tournament, which will be played in the new, compact tournament mode.

In the first semi-final, Bavenstedt was able to prevail against VfL with a narrow 4-3 win. Max Wasl secured his team's success with a goal in the last second, after having already contributed two goals. Jose Padial and Luis Baule rounded off the result. VfL, however, had to be content with goals from Till Pretor, an own goal from Warneboldt and Burhan Yener. However, Bavenstedt faces challenges as coach Michael Jarzombek only has to make do with eleven healthy players, which makes the situation exciting for the upcoming final.

SV Newroz on the rise

In the second semi-final, SV Newroz showed its superiority and won 3-0 against TuSpo Schliekum. Ibrahim Houban converted a penalty that was awarded after a foul on Sebastian Emmert. Emmert himself was also successful twice and secured his ticket to the final. Despite this strength, Newroz are struggling with the loss of Kamil Jermakowicz, who has suffered an ankle injury. The club management is already actively looking for reinforcements, especially for the offense and defense. Talks are ongoing with Aytugcan Kaya from 1. FC Egestorf, while there is also interest in Gabriel Michalek and Kevin Kalinowski.

The KEHRWIEDER Cup itself includes 12 teams that compete from the district league to the state league. The tournament format involves each team playing three games in the group stage, followed by the knockout phase, which this year begins on July 12th at 5:00 p.m. The final promises to be another highlight on July 13th at 4:00 p.m.

A look at the tournament structure

The group games take place in a tight time frame, which leaves the teams little time for tactical adjustments. The games are played with a playing time of 45 minutes. This ensures an exciting atmosphere and high audience support. Expectations for the next games are high, not least due to the compact tournament format, which allows teams to quickly prove themselves.
