40 years of Ad Libitum: A celebration of female power and music diversity!
The girls' and women's choir Ad Libitum recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a colorful festival full of music, emotions and female power. The anniversary celebration took place on September 19th at the newly designed Ottenstein festival site, where the atmosphere was characterized by the motto “More than just singing”. The presenters, who appeared as heads of the fictional event agency “Ad Libitum Events”, charmingly guided the audience through the varied evening.
The program was varied and showed the entire range of the choir. Whether celebratory, humorous, religious or pop – every performance managed to touch hearts. Two chroniclers took the guests on a nostalgic journey through time through the last four decades, while anecdotes and humorous retrospectives ensured lots of laughs.
A program full of music history
The choir presented a wide repertoire, ranging from classics such as Schubert's “Die Forelle” and Mozart's works to popular songs such as “Have a Nice Day” and compositions from the field of contemporary music. The theater ensemble also impressed with excerpts from well-known plays such as “Puss in Boots” and “The Jungle Book”. A special highlight was the program module called “Future”, which presented modern songs such as “Komet” and “Ordinary”.
The finale with “Thank You for the Music” brought the evening to an atmospheric end and led into the subsequent party with DJs. Ad Libitum is not only a musical ensemble, but also a strong symbol of community, lived culture and friendship.
A community with vision
The choir, which sings at will, has developed an extensive repertoire ranging from a cappella pieces to large choral orchestral works. The musical selection ranges from different eras from the Renaissance to modern music. Known nationally, Ad Libitum makes guest appearances in important concert halls and small churches and sings in different line-ups, which underlines the versatility and flexibility of the ensemble.
Loud INTERCULTURE Choral singing plays an essential role in shaping national identity and is seen as an important tool for the development and preservation of cultural heritage. Ad Libitum embodies exactly these aspects: choral work not only promotes community and emotional bonds, but also helps to preserve traditional folk songs and preserve musical heritage.
By celebrating its 40th anniversary, the girls' and women's choir Ad Libitum not only looked back, but also looked to the future. The choir will continue to function as a platform for women and a place for cultural development, in keeping with the belief that singing connects and brings joy.
