Curtain up! Amateur theater group Polle is looking for young talent for theater!

Art and culture are coming to life in the city of Cologne - this is demonstrated not only by numerous events, but also by the commitment of local groups. The Polle amateur play group is planning to reactivate its children's and youth group, which has been on pause since 2019 due to a lack of participants. The last family play in which the offspring took part was in 2018: “The Robber Hotzenplotz”. Triggered by the corona pandemic, gaming operations were ultimately stopped completely, and the return to these beautiful traditions is more than welcome.

Like a crumbling stone wall, cultural life can suffer - but the will to revive it is strong. On Sunday, November 2nd, the amateur theater group invites all theater-loving children, young people and adults to get to know each other. From 11 a.m. onwards, interested parties will meet in the club room of the amateur performance group on the stage of the district court. Corina Bruns is available to answer questions on 0152 24 05 70 00 and shows that the community can stand together even in difficult times. The aim of the meeting will be to discuss the possibilities of resuming the children and youth group.

Education and resilience after the pandemic

The corona pandemic has not only hit culture hard, but also education. The example of the Otfried Preußler School shows how strong the effects were. At the end of 2020, the school was awarded the German School Prize, an award that seems particularly valuable in these difficult times. The challenges were enormous: from the digitalization of lessons to emergency groups that had to be organized, the school has come a long way to adapt to the new circumstances. Since the Easter holidays, teachers have been showing a positive mood and face-to-face events are increasing again, which brings hope for a return to normality, reports the German School Portal.

The focus is now also on mindfulness and resilience. The development of innovative approaches to stress management and the implementation of exercise and meditation times in everyday school life are on the agenda. After the Corona crisis, both teachers and students must learn to deal with the experiences and develop new resources. It is a time that brings challenges but also opportunities to influence the future educational landscape.

Long-term effects and new approaches

The corona pandemic has had a long-term impact on the school and cultural landscape. Virtual meetings have been introduced and hybrid solutions have become established. During the pandemic, school development processes were stopped to reduce the burden on teachers, which shows that flexibility and adaptability are required. Even if the Corona times were challenging for those involved, they also enabled positive developments that should be taken advantage of.

In this sense, it is gratifying that both cultural and educational institutions in Cologne are making their way back to a vibrant future. Together they look for new paths and opportunities and are ready to make the best of the situation. Be it the creative children and young people of the Polle amateur play group or the innovative approaches of the Otfried Preußler School - there are signs everywhere in Cologne that people are having the courage to rediscover their inclinations and talents after the crisis.
