Career fair in Lüneburg: Women conquer crafts and IT!

The career and education fair entitled “Different.Strong.Erfolgreich” will take place in the city of Lüneburg on Thursday, November 27th. The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. in the Brüder-Scholl-Haus, located at Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 9. This is aimed at women who are interested in exploring career prospects in traditionally male-dominated areas such as crafts, IT and the Bundeswehr. The Commissioner for Equal Opportunities in the Labor Market from the Lüneburg-Uelzen Employment Agency and the job centers of the Harburg, Lüneburg and Uelzen districts are the organizers of this event.

What can visitors expect on site? An advisory team from the employment agency is available to clarify individual questions and offer assistance. Of course, a variety of information stands will also be represented, including the Bundeswehr, the Chamber of Crafts and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Also involved is the Women & Business Coordination Office and the Tech in the City e.V. association, all of which help make the long list of options tangible.

Diverse offers for interested women

The trade fair program has a lot up its sleeve. Various lectures will deal with topics that not only present women as role models, but also offer valuable information for a career in IT and the skilled trades. Among other things, the role models of women in the trades, women's power in the IT industry and the possibilities of starting a business in the IHK sector will be discussed. Career paths in the Bundeswehr are also presented, both in civilian and military terms. Registration for the trade fair is not required, but a visit is expressly recommended.

This initiative is in the context of the current situation in Germany, where the proportion of women in technical professions remains low. According to the report on digiformag, women make up only about 17% of the workforce in the IT industry and are represented in technical courses with 27% in engineering and 20% in information and communication technologies. This clearly shows how important measures are to improve equal opportunities.

Diverse initiatives for equal opportunities

Inspiring programs such as “FrauenLoop” offer training and further education for women in IT, while the association “Women in Tech e.V.” advocates for the visibility of women in technical professions. In addition, the IU “Women in Tech” project provides scholarships to counteract financial barriers. Flexible learning formats and practical further training are other approaches that can make it easier for women to enter technical careers. In order to promote the potential of women in these areas, mentorship and networking are also used.

Especially at a time when the demand for skilled workers in technical professions is constantly growing, events such as the career and education fair “Anders.Stark.Erfolgreich” are of central importance. It's time for more and more women to enter these exciting and future-oriented areas. Further information about the event can be found on the [Employment Agency] website (https://www.arbeitsagentur.de/vor-ort/lueneburg-uelzen/opportunitiesgleichheit).

In summary, a wide range of tools and resources are available to support women in their professional development. Stop by, find out more and take the opportunity to expand your network and discover new career paths!
