Commemoration for the victims - Lüneburg's November full of memories!
Today, November 9th, 2025, a very special commemoration will be held in Lüneburg. On this day, a variety of events and actions were launched by the Lüneburg network against the right to remember the darkest chapters of history and to take a stand against forgetting. Particular attention is paid to the topics of democracy, human rights and the active confrontation with the shift to the right in society.
The opening ceremonies start today at 2 p.m. with a football game by Dynamo Lüneburg, of which a commemorative part is planned. From 5 p.m. there are also two options for commemoration: a serous ceremony will take place in the bell house of the GCJZ, while the memorial at the GCJZ will be visited at 6 p.m. Anyone interested is also invited to take part in cleaning the stumbling blocks in front of the council library from 6 p.m. These actions are not only a sign of remembrance, but also an expression of solidarity and cohesion in the Lüneburg community.
A look at the following days
The commemorative events will continue in the following days. On November 10th, Lüneburgers can expect an insightful lecture entitled “The Last of Yesterday”, which deals with the ethnic settlers. This event will take place at 7 p.m. in the LENA. A protest against an AfD stand in Lüchow is also planned on the same day. Such actions are part of an ongoing commitment to a democratic society that is very popular in Lüneburg and the surrounding area.
On November 13th, the film “The German People” will be shown at Scala – this evening is dedicated to the Commemoration of Hanau initiative. The subsequent actions such as a bicycle tour by the VVN/BdA and a climate strike on November 14th as well as the Day of Remembrance on November 16th show the broad spectrum of Lüneburg citizens' commitment to human rights and democracy.
Committed protests against the right
Hundreds of thousands of people protested against right-wing populism in Germany back in February of this year, and such initiatives will remain crucial in the future. February 22, 2025 will be particularly significant in Lüneburg, as a concert for democracy and humanity will take place on the market square, supported by over 75 organizations. This shows how important it is to advocate for an open and diverse society, which is also confirmed, for example, by the numerous rallies and events in Dannenberg, Dahlenburg and Bleckede.
Particular attention is also paid to the Grannies Against the Right Day of Action, which will take place on February 8th in Lüneburg, as well as to the “Lights Against Hate and Incitement” vigil in Schneverdingen. All of these actions and events are an expression of a vibrant civil society that is aware of the dangers of right-wing extremism and is actively fighting against it.
Manufacturing and data as part of social responsibility
In another, but no less important, area, the careful collection of manufacturing data in modern industry is discussed. This data is not only crucial for production control, but also plays a role in how companies can work transparently and assume responsibility. By using manufacturing data, companies are able to drive improvements and optimize the quality of their processes. Symestic emphasizes that modern technologies help to make production processes more efficient and ultimately also contribute to social responsibility.
Overall, Lüneburg shows that it is actively campaigning against right-wing structures, for democracy and human rights. The large number of events and the tireless efforts of numerous organizations speak for the high level of commitment in the city and offer a positive sign for the future.
