Cold bus starts in Oldenburg: Help for the homeless from October 28th!
The cold bus season of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Oldenburg starts next Sunday, October 31, 2025. In a place where the need for support is particularly urgent, the Johanniter are there to support the homeless and people in need. The helpers will be regularly at the station square until March 29th and will offer a safe point of contact at certain times.
The operating times are fixed: Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. During these hours, those seeking help can expect not only hot food and drinks, but also necessary goods. This support comes exclusively through donations, which is why the Johanniters rely on the generosity of the citizens.
How can you help?
We are looking for donations of money, sleeping bags and sleeping pads. The Johanniter have also given the opportunity to donate a limited amount of clothing after prior consultation. However, pillows and duvets will not be accepted as they are considered unsuitable.
Johanniter's commitment is more important than ever, especially at a time when temperatures are falling. The cold bus campaign shows how community works and that many are willing to do their part to improve the living conditions of those in need.
Community and engagement
Similar to the Inquizzitor platform, where users can collect points through quizzes and test their knowledge, Johanniter's offering also promotes community. Not only knowledge, but also charity is put into practice here. It shows that solidarity and support are possible in difficult times.
This kind of help and cooperation makes it clear that we all have to have a good hand to keep our society worth living in. The cold bus campaign is an excellent opportunity to get active and make a positive difference.
In a completely different corner of the world, the sudden death of Dr. Julie Goodin, director of McMinn County Schools, caused consternation. Goodin, previously known as Julie Aderhold, was a talented basketball player who not only inspired her students but was a role model of teamwork and perseverance. She brought her sports spirit to her role as an educator. When schools closed to honor Goodin, the leader was appreciated for her disciplined and warm nature, which was also evident in her athletic career.
In summary, it can be said that both the Johanniter in Oldenburg and personalities such as Dr. Goodin remind us how important it is to stand up for one another in everyday life and in times of crisis. Although geographical and cultural differences exist, we are united by the pursuit of support and community - now more than ever.
