Milk transporter crashes into heavy-duty truck: A28 closed and traffic jam chaos!
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday there was a serious traffic accident on the A28 near Oldenburg, which caused quite a stir. A milk truck that tried to overtake in the right lane collided with a heavy transport vehicle. The driver of the milk truck, a 51-year-old man, had obviously ignored the overtaking ban and the warning signals of the security vehicles and decided to make a risky overtaking attempt on the hard shoulder. This decision ended in disaster.
During the collision, the milk truck hit the heavy transport, which then lost its load and was pushed into the central barrier. Parts of the load extended onto the opposite road, making the situation even more dangerous. The A28 has been closed in both directions between Oldenburg-West and Haarentor since Wednesday morning. This closure has led to long traffic jams, and even the alternative routes via the A29 and the Oldenburg north bypass are heavily congested.
Damage and salvage work
The rescue work, which lasted until late morning, required the use of two cranes to free the wedged vehicles. An initial overview of the material damage caused puts the estimate at several hundred thousand euros. Fortunately, the driver of the heavy transport truck only suffered minor injuries, while the police are now investigating the driver of the milk truck.
Accidents on German roads are a topic that always comes into focus. According to current statistics from... Federal Statistical Office Traffic accidents in Germany are a serious problem that not only causes significant material damage, but also has dangerous effects on traffic safety. This statistical data helps to develop a better understanding of the causes of accidents and to take appropriate measures in legislation and traffic education.
Let us recall a similar incident that occurred in 2016, when a truck skidded and overturned - the driver escaped with minor injuries. The highway then had to be partially closed while the tractor-trailer was towed, and the estimated damage was 25,000 euros, according to the District newspaper reported. Incidents like this show that there is always some risk on our roads.
So stay careful and alert when venturing out on the roads! Traffic requires a good hand and constant vigilance from us.
