Stonemason tradition lives on: New Oldenburg company founded!

In Oldenburg, a new start-up is causing a stir: Jan-Hendrik Oberländer and Sven Deiß have taken over a traditional stonemason and plastering company and are now looking for a breath of fresh air. The history of the company, which was founded in 1911, now continues under the name Natursteinpartner Oldenburg. The takeover took place a year and a half ago and formally represents a new founding after the previous company wanted to close down. The two new founders bring a lot of experience with them: Sven Deiß worked for Wille for 17 years and Jan-Hendrik Oberländer for almost four years.

The takeover didn't come out of nowhere. Discussions with the previous owners about a lease led to the founding of the new company. Another experienced colleague, Imran Kösteri, has joined the team. This step shows that tradition is valued and at the same time brings in new perspectives. As NWZonline reports, the two founders are in close contact with the Oldenburg Chamber of Crafts, which provides them with valuable tips when setting up a business.

Support and advice

It is particularly helpful in the skilled trades to seek start-up advice at an early stage. The Chamber of Crafts team sees itself as a sparring partner for future entrepreneurs in order to develop ideas together. A finished business plan is not necessary – initial ideas can be worked out step by step. This corresponds to the trend that many young masters feel unprepared for self-employment and first gain professional experience. Nevertheless, taking over an existing business is an attractive opportunity to get started as an entrepreneur, as Oldenburger Münsterland emphasizes.

Oberländer and Deiß have already invested additionally in modernizing their company, including a new website and expanding their digital presence. Digitalization is very popular and the two entrepreneurs plan to further expand this area. Something has also happened in the team: In addition to the two founders, an intern was hired, which created two new full-time positions.

Outlook for the future

The new owners have their responsibilities well under control and feel comfortable in their role. “We have a good knack for what we want to do,” explains Deiß. The discussions with the Chamber of Crafts about legal and organizational issues support you in successfully transferring your new business to the next generation. And the numbers speak for themselves: around 17 percent of all companies in Germany are craft businesses, a proportion that has increased slightly compared to the previous year. The Chamber of Crafts is actively committed to establishing new businesses and transferring existing businesses to the next generation.

With the takeover of the historic company, Jan-Hendrik Oberländer and Sven Deiß are opening a new chapter. The combination of tradition and innovation could be the key to success - there is really something to be said for the future of crafts in Oldenburg!
