Osnabrück celebrates at Lower Saxony Day: 10,000 visitors expected!
The city of Osnabrück is blooming! The Lower Saxony Day celebrations will take place from August 29th to 31st, 2025, and the second day promises to be a feast for the senses. The weather is easily sunny and many visitors are already expected. According to city marketing, around 10,000 people came to celebrate and take part. The day is all about culture and conviviality, which only increases the anticipation in the city.
Over 200 initiatives, clubs and groups from all over Lower Saxony present themselves on nine adventure miles on topics such as blue lights, environmental education and sport. Particular highlights are the many hands-on activities, which not only make children's hearts beat faster, but also offer adults the opportunity to actively experience crafts and get to know exciting start-ups. This also includes being able to explore fire engines, which is particularly popular with the little ones.
A colorful program for young and old
What is there to experience? Around 350 program items are on the agenda. A diverse music program will take place on the various stages - among others, the popular band DONOTS will rock the stage at 9:30 p.m., while Stefanie Heinzmann will be waiting an hour before to inspire the audience. Choirs and big bands will also perform their music on stage 2, while folk dance groups will encourage the audience to join in.
Despite the colorful hustle and bustle, history is also remembered: at 4:48 p.m. a bell rings to commemorate the end of the 30 Years' War. A special highlight will also be the live broadcast of “Hello Lower Saxony” from Osnabrück at 7:30 p.m. The opening speech was given by Mayor Katharina Pötter together with Prime Minister Olaf Lies, who underlined the importance of this event for the city.
An all-round successful event
Visitors can look forward to a varied culinary offering. Over 100 stalls offer regional specialties, street food and sweet and savory delicacies. “There’s something going on!” one could say when it comes to trying out the different culinary offerings. And that's not all - the Galeria am Neumarkt is artfully decorated with murals, adding additional accents to the festival atmosphere.
To ensure that everyone arrives safely, a comprehensive security concept has been put in place. This includes park-and-ride areas and free public transport. There are an additional 3,000 bike racks available for cyclists. After all, Lower Saxony Day should not only be a celebration, but also comfortable for everyone.
Overall, Lower Saxony Day is an excellent opportunity to discover and experience the diversity of Osnabrück. Look forward to a weekend full of joy, culture and community! For more information you can visit the coverage ndr.de and os-kalender.de track.
