Osnabrück is looking for friendly foster parents: information evening on November 20th!

The city of Osnabrück has intensified its search for foster parents and is inviting you to a non-binding information evening on Thursday, November 20th. Interested couples and families are welcome at the authority building, Hannoversche Str. 6-8, to find out more about the possibilities of taking in foster children. Until 7:30 p.m., employees of the adoption and foster child service will provide information about the requirements and preparations associated with taking in a foster child. It is particularly important that children between the ages of zero and six who are looking for a new home are often confronted with severe stress in their previous living conditions - be it through neglect, neglect or abuse, as Hasepost reports.

The information for the evening also discusses the support offered by the adoption and foster child service. This includes not only the targeted preparation and qualification of future foster parents, but also regular support and advice, even during the first visit contacts between the foster child and the birth parents. Information on legal aspects as well as financial and insurance issues are also covered.

Looking for foster parents!

In order to make the search for suitable foster parents easier, this initiative is aimed particularly at couples and families who have the motivation and commitment to take in a child in a way that meets their needs. Potential foster parents are not limited to traditional patterns; Single people, same-sex couples and families without children of their own are also welcome. The requirements are clearly defined: physical and mental health, emotional stability and secure financial circumstances form the basis for a successful foster relationship, as Pflegekind.org shows.

It is also important to be willing to respond to the individual needs of the foster children and to work cooperatively with the birth parents. In the preparatory seminars, future foster parents are prepared for the special challenges that come with caring for a foster child, because a loving and stable environment is crucial for the children's development.

The path to foster care

The training and knowledge of specialists in schools and social institutions regarding the needs of foster children is becoming increasingly important. The goal is to strengthen the role of foster families and promote child-centered decision-making that focuses on children's wishes and perspectives. Support from qualified social workers is part of the process right from the start to make it easier for future foster parents to get started. Information about this can be found at [Familienportal NRW](https://www.familienportal.nrw/de/adoption-pflegefamilien/pflegeeltern- Werden).

Anyone interested in taking part in the information event can register at info-pflegekind@osnabrueck.de. Spontaneous visits are also possible. All inquiries about adoption and foster care services can be made at any time, and application documents are also available online.
