The Schwanewede shooting club is facing an exciting time: from July 15th to 17th, the 103rd shooting festival will be celebrated, which is all about tradition, community and celebratory highlights. This festive occasion promises not only exciting competitions, but also special encounters between club members and the population. Advertisement Publisher reports that the festival kicks off on July 15th at 2 p.m. with the raising of the flag in front of the Schützenhalle.
The members of the shooting club will be active on Friday, July 18th at 6 p.m. when they meet to decorate the festival hall. Traditionally, the weekend festival begins on Saturday, July 19th, with the youth department visiting youth queen Eva Ritter at 11:30 a.m. The shooting celebrations will begin with a ceremonial raising of the flags from 2 p.m., followed by a speech by the shooting king Thorsten Schilling, who will warmly welcome those present.
Tradition and competition
A colorful program awaits visitors in the following days. On Sunday, July 20th, from 11:15 a.m., a meeting of the riflemen will take place at the former Schwaneweder Landhaus, followed by a drink with King Thorsten Schilling, which will be accompanied by the sounds of the SAV brass orchestra. A highlight is the parade to the Schwaneweder market square, including a flag march to Schützenplatz, during which there is a stop at the cenotaph to lay a wreath.
The shooting festival is ideal for the entire family: there are food trucks, an ice cream stand and a children's carousel on the festival site, while around 60 athletes compete for the title of king - including youth, women's and senior shooters, like the Weser courier reported. Additional attractions provide the opportunity for non-members to participate in the shooting range.
Festive proclamation and celebration
Shooting begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 21, before shooters head to City Hall at 10:45 a.m. At 1:00 p.m. a banquet will be held in the Schützenhalle, where long-standing members will be honored and greetings will be given by guests from friendly clubs and politicians. The tension increases when the new majesties are announced around 6 p.m. - which is duly celebrated with a festive proclamation at 8 p.m. and a subsequent celebration with DJ Andre Duscha.
Finally, on Tuesday, July 22nd, there will be a clean-up and tomcat shooting - a good opportunity to promote conviviality among the shooters and the population.
