Bundeswehr Day: 13,000 visitors experience an exciting military show!
Yesterday was an exciting day at the Lucius D. Clay barracks in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. The annual Bundeswehr Day took place there, which this year was under the official patronage of the Stade Reservist Association. Almost 13,000 visitors came to take a look behind the scenes of the Bundeswehr. The event offered a varied program with technical exhibitions and fascinating insights into the work of the armed forces. Visitors were able to admire, among other things, the Leopard battle tank, the GTK Boxer transport vehicle and special medical service vehicles. The event, which was organized nationwide for the first time in 2015, is a platform to promote transparency between the military and society.
The Bundeswehr not only contributes to the visibility of its tasks, but also offers the opportunity to reduce fears of contact. The program featured exciting dynamic demonstrations that included simulated missions, helicopter landings and tactical operations presentations. At an informative stand of the reservist association of the Bremen regional group, the comrades of the RK Stade had the opportunity to exchange ideas about current activities and make new contacts, which significantly strengthened the sense of community among the reservists. These engagements are all about the event's goals, which are not only to provide insights into the German armed forces, but also to create new perspectives after the challenging times.
As a successful concept
The organization of the event was perceived as consistently positive by the visitors and members of the RK Stade. What was particularly commendable was the well-thought-out shuttle system, which ensured free transport from the parking lots to the barracks and thus ensured everything ran smoothly. This meant that the guests could enjoy the supporting program in a relaxed manner without having to worry about long journeys. The varied offerings led to numerous interesting discussions and enabled many to find out more about the different professions within the Bundeswehr.
If you look at the large numbers of visitor flows - with over 230,000 interested guests at nine locations in 2024 - it is clear that Bundeswehr Day is very popular. This is not least a response to international challenges that are fueling interest in military intelligence and the engagement of soldiers in society. Thanks to this initiative, it becomes clear how important the dialogue between the armed forces and civil society is for the future of our society.
Yesterday was not only an opportunity to present the Bundeswehr's high operational readiness and modern technologies, but also an invitation to actively engage with the topic and break down prejudices. Bundeswehr Day remains an important event to further strengthen the bridge between the military and the population. The organizers had a good hand with their concept - it brought new insights and experiences not only to the comrades from the RK Stade, but also to the numerous visitors.
