Corentin Leroy triumphs again at the 41st Montée de la Croix!
Yesterday, October 5, 2025, the 41st edition of the Montée de la Croix took place in Autun. Under the friendly atmosphere of the center, more precisely in the De Lattre de Tassigny square, the surrounding area was transformed into a mecca for sports enthusiasts. The event was organized by the Stade athlétique autunois under the direction of President Corentin Leroy, who not only took care of the organization but also his personal competitive luck.
The participants took part in the various competitions with a brilliant panoramic view of the city. The event included two free children's runs starting at 10:00 and 10:15, followed by the Foulées autunoises, a 4.3 km run with 115 meters of elevation gain, and the main event, the Montée de la Croix, which spanned 11.3 km with 355 meters of elevation gain. Both competitions started simultaneously at 10:30 a.m.
Winner with experience
Corentin Leroy excelled again, securing first place at the Montée de la Croix with a time of 39 minutes and 23 seconds. In doing so, he proved that he is not only a good organizer, but also an excellent athlete. Compared to last year, when he completed the course in 36 minutes and 40 seconds, his time this time was slower but still impressive. Jorann Da Foncesca took second place, finishing in 42 minutes and 11 seconds.
Particularly noteworthy was the performance of Amélie Mignot, who was the best woman in 60th place overall with a time of 53 minutes and 37 seconds. Among the total of 374 participants gathered in the various disciplines of the event, the 251 participants of the Montée de la Croix stood out, while the 4.3 km distance attracted 82 runners and the children's races 41 little athletes.
A club with social responsibility
The event was not only about sport, but also about solidarity. The Stade athlétique autunois established an important partnership in collaboration with SEP 71, an association for multiple sclerosis. This shows how sport and social engagement can go hand in hand, which is particularly important in the context of such community events.
Overall, the 41st Montée de la Croix was a complete success. It remains to be seen how the event will develop next year, but one thing is certain: the anticipation of the next challenges at the Montée de la Croix is already noticeable.
