Shock accident in Stade: Skoda crashes into Mazda - two injured!

A serious traffic accident caused significant traffic disruptions in Stade yesterday morning. According to Tageblatt, the accident occurred at 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Thuner Straße and Bundesstraße 73. A 31-year-old from Brester wanted to turn left in his Skoda and overlooked the oncoming 51-year-old Mazda driver from Bargstedt. Result of the collision: Both vehicles were no longer drivable.

The two people involved in the accident had to be taken immediately to the Stader Elbe Clinic, with the Skoda driver and his 20-year-old passenger being in a critical situation. The Stade fire department not only secured the scene of the accident, but also picked up any leaking operating materials. Due to the accident, the intersection was temporarily closed, which led to hours of traffic jams and left many commuters unnerved.

Tighter traffic safety necessary

This alarming situation once again makes it clear that road safety is also of great importance in our region. The current accident balance published by VBG shows that the number of accidents recorded by the police in Germany has fallen by 1% compared to the previous year. However, there are some worrying developments: while the number of people seriously injured has fallen by 5%, in 2023 almost eight people will have lost their lives in traffic accidents every day.

What is particularly striking is that, despite the declining numbers for the majority of road users, an increase in accidents is expected for e-scooters and motorcycles (such as motorcycles and scooters). Motorcyclists should therefore pay particular attention to their safety in spring, when the motorcycling season begins.

A look at the accident statistics

The Statistics from the Federal Statistical Office also shows how important it is to take preventative measures. This provides comprehensive and differentiated data on the traffic safety situation in Germany. Among other things, it examines how many accidents there were, the people involved, the vehicles and the causes of the accident. This knowledge is of crucial importance in order to specifically improve legislation, traffic education and road construction.

Considering this data and the recent accident in Stade, it becomes clear: road safety is an issue that affects us all. The events remind us to be careful, whether on the road or when interacting with other road users. Stay safe and alert!
