A golden start to October awaits us in Lower Saxony. How News38 reported, the colorful foliage shines under the bright sun and gives our areas a truly beautiful sight. But the idyll won't last long, because the weather will soon have other plans up its sleeve.
Weather experts are expecting a lightning-quick turnaround: a new storm is heading towards Germany and will not spare Lower Saxony either. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), we are facing a “significant change in the weather” on Saturday, October 4th. The first signs of a change in the weather await us on Friday afternoon in the form of dense clouds and rain.
The impending storm
And what a storm that could be! Meteorologist Michael Hoffmann describes the current weather situation as “the calm before the storm”. Dominik Jung, also a qualified meteorologist, makes it clear: We are facing a complete change in the weather - especially on the coast, where wind speeds of up to 105 km/h are expected. The people in Braunschweig, Wolfsburg and Salzgitter can prepare for gray days - the sunshine will fall by the wayside for the time being.
While we are still benefiting from the beautiful days, the German weather service also has good news: From Sunday onwards the storm is expected to lose energy and the weather will become more bearable again.

On Friday we will see the first signs of the impending storm with rain coming. The highest temperatures in East Frisia climb to around 14 degrees, and in Wendland it gets a little warmer at 17 degrees. But the wind will become stronger - especially from Friday evening, when gusts of up to 60 km/h will blow, first on the coasts and then inland. Dense clouds and persistent rain are also expected for the following night.
How NDR According to reports, there will be a lot of clouds and sometimes heavy rain in store for us on Saturday. Temperatures fluctuate between 12 and 16 degrees, while squalls are even expected on the coast. On Sunday it will remain changeable with passing rain showers and maximum temperatures around 15 degrees. By then everything should calm down at least a little.
Particular attention is also paid to the water levels on the North Sea as well as on the Ems, Weser and Elbe, where storm surges of up to 1.5 meters above normal flooding are possible in some cases. So the weather remains exciting – nice for some, stormy for others.
