Artists wanted: Kunst Hoch 3” brings an explosion of color to Uelzen!
The creative scene in Uelzen can look forward to a breath of fresh air! With the new art project “Kunst Hoch 3”, the Schnellenmarkt in the heart of the city will in future be enriched by impressive works of art. The goal of this initiative is clear: art should be presented visibly and creatively in public spaces in order to increase the quality of stay for all citizens. This is exactly why five illuminated spans were installed around Schnellenmarkt Square, which act as supports for artistic objects. There will be space for a total of up to 15 works of art, which will be installed at a height of 5 to 6 meters.
Artists from the area are warmly invited to submit their ideas. Both individual and group submissions are welcome. Applications can be made for 3, 6, 9 or even all 15 objects, with sets of three per span required. An exciting opportunity for creative minds - collaborations between artists are expressly desired. Participants also don’t need to worry about topic specifications: they can work completely freely. A local jury will evaluate the concepts based on design quality, feasibility, local reference and diversity. The deadline for submitting the concepts is July 11, 2025. If you are looking for more information about the requirements and the application process, you can find it on the district management website at kts-uelzen.de.
The Uelzen Art Association and its anniversary
In the course of the project, it is hardly surprising that the Kunstverein Uelzen e.V., which has held almost 250 exhibitions since its founding on September 25, 1975, is once again in focus. As an important partner of the regional art and culture scene, the association has not only organized numerous events, but will also be hosting a variety of exhibitions and special events in this anniversary year. The six monthly exhibitions in the gallery in the theater are characterized by an exciting range of artists. Here comes Simone Lietzkow in February with “For Given Occasion,” followed by Alexander Iskin in May and a group exhibition in August.
There will also be special events to celebrate the anniversary. Under the motto “KV comes to the city – art in the shop window”, local artists will present their work in various shop windows in Uelzen City, with an opening on April 25th at 4 p.m. on Herzogenplatz.
Art in public spaces: A crucial element
What makes art in public spaces so important? This type of art not only promotes citizens' identification with their urban space, it also stimulates a broad social debate on values. Through artistic interventions, the urban living space is addressed and users are mobilized to participate in issues relevant to urban development. Art objects and installations create areas of friction in everyday urban life and invite people to actively participate in discussions that affect the city. In this way, art is not just displayed, but becomes part of the social dialogue - be it in Uelzen or elsewhere.
So if you have a good knack for creative concepts, you shouldn't miss the application phase for “Kunst Hoch 3”. Further information can be obtained directly from the district management at ziz@ktsuelzen.de be requested. The future of art in Uelzen will be exciting!
