Uelzen becomes an art hotspot: new cultural district with history!

Something is happening in Uelzen. The Schnellenmarkt district comes to life and is developing into a vibrant art and cultural district. How People's friend reports, the cultural upheaval will be actively filled with events and exhibitions until the end of the year. Five properties have already been rented and will serve as cultural hotspots that will offer exciting experiences for locals and visitors.

A highlight is the studio of the Syrian artist Belal Mohammad, who streams live on Saturdays. His works, including motifs from Uelzen such as the St. Mary's Church and the Old Town Hall, are an impressive expression of regional culture. One of the buildings is regularly used for exhibitions by regional artists, and the works of the late artist can be seen in the Georg Münchbach House. Particularly worth mentioning is the creative installation that shows collages by Julian Korth and Falk Münchbach on the upper floor - visible from the outside 24 hours a day!

A city fire comes to life

Another notable aspect of the redesign is the ambition to develop a city fire museum in the historic half-timbered house on the corner of Doctorenstrasse and Schnellenmarkt. Loud Uelzen press The events of the disastrous city fire of 1826 are artistically processed here. Not only exhibitions are planned, but also the installation of an animated shadow projection that will bring the history of the fire to life. The upcoming project aims to make the district's past tangible and at the same time raise public awareness of its historical heritage.

A QR code will be installed, giving passers-by access to the history of the fire. This is part of a larger plan in which the culture, tourism and city marketing company in Uelzen - under the direction of Alexander Hass - is looking for artists who implement historical records in their work. There's really something going on here, and not just with art, but also with various events that are already causing a stir.

Art Hoch 3 – A new look at art

The “Kunst Hoch 3” project, like People's friend explains, promotes regional artists who can apply with sets of three consisting of up to 15 works. The aim is to make art visible in everyday life - a wonderful initiative that will enrich cultural life in the district. A fountain is also planned at the market, which will “whisper” with the voice of Christian Steyer to bring the city's water stories closer to the citizens.

These initiatives are in line with current developments in urban development, such as bpb highlighted. Art and culture are playing an increasing role in urban design and are crucial for improving the quality of life and the attractiveness of urban spaces. Uelzen is taking an innovative approach to integrating these concepts and promoting awareness of its history and surroundings.

The coming months promise to be exciting in Uelzen. The Schnellenmarkt district will become a stage for art, culture and history, and the local community can look forward to a lively and inspiring program.
